No, it's a great laptop on its own even without Samsung devices. The AMOLED display, build quality, and performance hold up well against other premium ultrabooks. That said, if you do have a Galaxy phone or tablet, the ecosystem features add a lot of value and convenience that you won't get with other laptops.
The AMOLED display is significantly better for media consumption — deeper blacks, more vibrant colors, better contrast. It makes movies, shows, and photos look incredible. For professional color work where accuracy is critical, some prefer IPS, but Samsung's AMOLED is actually very color-accurate too in the right color mode.
Samsung uses modern AMOLED technology with pixel shifting and other burn-in mitigation techniques. For normal laptop use with varied content, burn-in is unlikely. If you often display static elements (like taskbars or sidebars) for very long periods, you might want to enable the screen saver or use dark mode to minimize risk.
