The DELTA Pro can power many household circuits, but not an entire home simultaneously — that would require a much larger system. With the Smart Home Panel, you can select up to 10 essential circuits (like fridge, lights, outlets, well pump, etc.) to back up during an outage. For a typical home, 3600Wh base might last 6-24 hours depending on what you're running. Adding extra batteries or a smart generator extends that significantly.
Gas generators can produce more power and run indefinitely (as long as you have gas), but they're noisy, produce fumes (can't use indoors), require maintenance, and are less efficient for small loads. The DELTA Pro is silent, produces no emissions (can be used indoors), requires zero maintenance, and is much more convenient for everyday use. For occasional use and situations where fumes/noise don't matter, gas is cheaper per watt. For convenience, cleanliness, and indoor use, DELTA Pro wins.
The Smart Home Panel ($500-$800) lets you hardwire the DELTA Pro to your home's electrical panel and automatically switch selected circuits to battery power during an outage. If you want a seamless whole-home backup experience, yes, it's worth it. If you just want to plug devices into the power station directly, you don't need it.
The DELTA Pro supports up to 1600W of solar input. How many panels you need depends on your goals. 400W would be a good start for occasional camping. 800-1200W is better for off-grid living. 1600W gives you the fastest solar charging (full charge in ~3 hours of good sun).
